If you are cleaning up spills outside, you want your absorbents to become fully saturated with whatever you are cleaning up, not rain water. MEI oil-only absorbents are your best option for outdoor spill control & prevention. They repel water leaving their full absorbency for oil-based liquids. The grade of roll that you choose is dependent on your application and refers to the durability of the pad. "Medium" rolls are the most popular grade of absorbent because of their balance of durability and price-point; they can handle most applications. "Heavy" rolls are reserved for tough and rugged applications where there is a chance the absorbent could get torn up such as on rough surfaces or cleaning sharp tools.
 
General Absorbent Rolls are a "go-to" for those that need a reliable sorbent to tick all the boxes as far as compliance goes. A great all around solution that'll do most tasks well. Recommended for basic spill control & prevention tasks. These sorbents have minimal lint on them an are run through a bonder once to increase strength and durability.
